Postpartum physical therapy

in alpharetta, GA

We believe that every parent's postpartum recovery journey is unique and deserves personalized attention. Whether you're a new mom or have been through it before, we're here to help you overcome any physical challenges that may arise after pregnancy and delivery.

From incontinence to painful c-section scars, episiotomy or tearing scars, abdominal muscle separation (diastasis recti), and back and hip pain, we'll create a tailored treatment plan to jumpstart your recovery and get you feeling better. We understand that every body is different, which is why we don't believe in a one-size-fits-all approach

If you're eager to get back to your favorite activities after having a baby, pelvic floor PT is a great place to start. While your OB/midwife will clear you medically, it's important to ensure that your body is moving optimally before diving back into physical activity. After all, the way you move matters, and developing correct movements early on can help reduce any pain, pressure, or leaking that you may experience.

We're here to support you every step of the way, from assessing your unique needs to providing individualized treatment plans designed to help you achieve your postpartum recovery goals

when should i start ?

If you are a new mom we like to see you around 2 weeks postpartum. We are able to go over education on how you move to decrease stress and strain to your core and pelvic floor. We are also able to begin breath work at this time which allows you to begin to reconnected to your core and pelvic floor allowing you to move easier and feel better!

Once postpartum always postpartum, so if you had your baby 5 years ago you can still be complaining of some of the above concerns. Don’t worry you can still make them better! You can begin your journey to being a stronger, healthier you whenever you want!

what does treatment involve?

After we go over a through history and full body evaluation we will make a plan specifically for you; focused on your goals and what we found on your evaluation. There can be some manual therapy involved; including soft tissue mobilizations, joint mobilizations, and dry needling but you will be moving during our sessions! Specific strengthening and mobility exercises as well as breathing exercises are generally part of most treatments. All of these help to improve your alignment and return balance to your body allowing everything to work optimally!

Have you had a baby and:

  • Wondered what the next best steps would be to help you get back to feeling like yourself again postpartum?

  • Unsure of what you are and are not allowed to do?

  • What is normal to experience and what a sign something is not right?

Would you like some guidance when getting back to activity when you are cleared at that 6 -8  week postpartum visit instead of just guessing?

These were all questions we had when having our children and we are determined to help answer them for women while giving them the care they deserve after being rockstars and bringing a person into this world!

Even in the absence of pain or dysfunction, we encourage postpartum physical therapy to teach you how to move safely, begin to recruit the correct muscles, and how to progress your workouts safely to help you avoid experiencing postpartum issues.
